PromptClear is a browser extension that rewrites your AI chatbot prompts into clearer, more effective versions. This policy explains, in plain English, what happens to your data. The short version: we never store the content of your prompts, and the only thing we count is anonymous usage.
When you click Improve, the text you typed is sent to our server, which passes it to an AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the improved version. It is used only for that single request, in the moment. We do not store it, log it, or share it. Anthropic processes it under their privacy policy and does not use API data to train their models. If you never click Improve, no text leaves your browser.
Anonymous usage counts only — for example, how many times Improve was clicked, how often an improved prompt was kept or dismissed, the name of the style used, and which chatbot site it happened on. These are tied to a random identifier generated in your browser that contains nothing about you and can't be linked to your identity. We use these counts solely to understand whether PromptClear is useful.
Your custom styles (names and criteria you write) and your settings are stored locally in your browser. They are sent with a request only to shape its rewrite, and are never stored on our servers.
Our server runs on Vercel (hosting) and stores the anonymous counters with Upstash. AI processing is done by Anthropic. Each handles data under its own privacy policy.
